What happens when I book a trauma therapy session?

FAQs About Attending Your Consultation Session With Dr. Díaz

Congratulations! You’ve made the wonderful decision to invest in your healing and attend therapy. Whether this is your very first time going to therapy or you’ve been a few times throughout your life, scheduling a first session with a new provider can be anxiety-provoking. I get it! I’ve been in your shoes. That’s why I created this post so you know what to expect from our time together.

Where will the sessions happen?

Dr. Diaz does tele-therapy and phone call sessions only. You will be sent a link from Sol Therapy to your email to join the session.

What kind of things will you ask me?

During our 15-minute consultation, I will ask what you most want to work on and what you hope to get out of therapy. This helps me understand if we will be a good fit and if I have the expertise to help you. If we decide to schedule a first session, we will do an intake that involves getting to know you, your history, relationships, work history, and important events that have happened in your life. The intake session lasts anywhere from 60-90 minutes.

What forms do I need to fill out?

You will receive an email from my private practice (Sol Therapy) which includes documents like your HIPAA rights, privacy policy, demographic information, and screeners to assess your anxiety and depression symptoms at this time.

If you are using insurance that I am in-network with, you will also receive an email from Alma, a company that handles all the insurance billing for both of us.

If I am out-of-network, you will receive an email from Mentaya to fill out. This company will submit out-of-network superbills for you.

How do I pay for sessions?

You will either use insurance or pay out of pocket. Out-of-pocket rates are $150/hour for individual sessions and $200/hour for couples sessions.

What happens if I can’t attend the session, or if I’m late?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy meaning that if you don’t cancel 24 hours or more before your session, you will be charged the full session amount ($150). If you will be late but let me know, we can meet for the remaining time of the session. If you are more than 15 minutes late and have not let me know you are still planning on coming, it will be recorded as a No Show and you will be charged the full session amount ($150).

My question hasn’t been answered. Can I contact you?
